Dalhousie's Lenderyou and Dyke named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Dalhousie swimmers Phoebe Lenderyou and Gavin Dyke have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Phoebe Lenderyou of the Dalhousie Tigers women’s swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 12, 2017.

A third-year management student from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Lenderyou was named the AUS swimmer of the meet at the Subway AUS Swimming Championships held this past weekend in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

She won gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events, as well as in the 50m butterfly event. She was also a part of two gold medal relay teams as the Dalhousie women’s team swam to their 16th consecutive AUS championship title.

Lenderyou was also named AUS swimmer of the year for the second consecutive season heading into the AUS championships. In her three years at Dalhousie, she has managed a perfect record, winning all 48 races she has entered in AUS competition.

Gavin Dyke of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 12, 2017.

A fourth-year sociology student from Mount Pearl, N.L., Dyke led the Tigers to their 19th consecutive AUS championship title this past weekend at the Subway AUS Swimming Championships.

He was named the AUS swimmer of meet after winning gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle events and silver in both the 100m freestyle and butterfly events. He also swam on all three gold-medal winning relay teams.

Dyke was also named AUS swimmer of the year for the second consecutive season heading into the AUS championships.
