Dalhousie's Cairo Henning and UNB's Marcus Barnes named East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athletes of the Week
Henning and Barnes delivered clutch performances to earn weekly honours as the AUS playoff race tightens

Cairo Henning of the Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball team has been named the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 8, 2026.
A first-year commerce student from Montreal, Que., Henning led the Tigers to two crucial wins over Memorial this past weekend, keeping the team’s playoff hopes alive while logging 40 minutes in each game.
In Friday’s 54–52 victory, Henning recorded a game-high nine rebounds, adding six points, four assists and three steals.
She followed that performance on Saturday with a game-high 27 points in a 64–57 win, along with seven rebounds, five assists and a steal.
With the pair of victories, Dalhousie is now tied with Memorial in the conference standings, with both teams battling for the final AUS playoff berth with one week remaining in the regular season.

Marcus Barnes from the UNB REDS men’s basketball team has been named the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 8, 2026.
A fourth-year business student from Kitchener, Ont., Barnes played a key role as the REDS swept a pair of tightly contested road games at Saint Mary’s, with both wins coming in overtime.
In Friday’s dramatic 94-87 come-from-behind triumph, Barnes played 43 of 45 minutes, finishing with 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists. He knocked down two clutch three-pointers in the final minute of regulation to force overtime.
On Saturday, in an equally impressive performance, Barnes once again scored 26 points in the REDS’ 87-83 win. He scored seven straight points late to erase a deficit in regulation and then hit a long-range three-pointer late in overtime to give UNB the win.
Throughout the 2025-26 season, each East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week will receive a $50 ECL gift card and a signed certificate, courtesy of East Coast Lifestyle and Atlantic University Sport.
