Subway AUS Athletes of the Week: CBU's Dorsey and Dalhousie's Gowan honoured

Jimmy Dorsey of the CIS No. 2-ranked Cape Breton Capers men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2013.
Dorsey, a fifth-year guard from Baltimore, MD., was named the most valuable player of this past weekend’s Subway AUS men’s basketball championship held at the Halifax Metro Centre.
Jimmy, also named to the tournament all-star team as well as the player of the game in the championship final, led all players in the championship with an average of 22.0 points per game.
In Saturday night’s 80-70 win over the Cape Breton Capers, Dorsey finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
In Sunday’s 83-75 victory over the CIS No. 5-ranked Acadia Axemen, he poured in 30 points, including a perfect 16-of-16 from the free-throw line, and added eight assists and four steals as the Capers captured their fourth ever AUS men’s basketball banner.
Earlier in the week, Jimmy was named the AUS player of the year for the second consecutive season and an AUS first team all-star for the fourth year in a row.

Tara Gowan of the CIS No. 3-ranked Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2013.
Gowan, a second-year Kinesiology student from Sydney, N.S., recorded 10 kills in the Tigers opening round loss to Trinity Western at the CIS women’s volleyball championship this past weekend and was named Dalhousie’s player of the match.
Tara tallied another 10 kills the following day in a consolation round loss to the Laval Rouge et Or.
