Subway AUS Athletes of the Week: Acadia's Moore and UPEI's Doane honoured

Kristy Moore of the Acadia Axewomen basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 11, 2012.
Moore, a third-year guard from Shad Bay, N.S., netted 67 points in a pair of road victories over the UNB Varsity Reds this past weekend, including a career-high 38-point effort in Friday’s 82-67 season-opening win. She finished the game 14-of-25 from the floor, including hitting 4-of-8 from three-point range.
In Saturday’s rematch with the V-Reds, Kristy added another 29 points to go with five rebounds and four assists in an 83-58 victory.
Moore’s 38-point performance on Friday evening are the second highest single-game total in Acadia school history, tying her for 11th all-time in AUS history.
Kristy’s 33.5 points per game average currently leads all players in CIS women’s basketball.

Geoff Doane of the UPEI Panthers men’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 11, 2012.
Doane, a 6-foot-4 forward from Halifax, N.S., led the Panthers to a pair of season-opening wins this past weekend over the Dalhousie Tigers in Charlottetown.
In Friday’s 99-81 victory, Geoff netted 15 points and added five rebounds, one assist and one block. In Saturday’s rematch, an 89-82 win, Doane scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds and was named the Subway player of the game for his efforts.
Geoff, a business student at UPEI is currently third in AUS scoring with an average of 20.5 points per game and ranks ninth in rebounding at 6.0 per game.
