Pope’s late goal earns Sea-Hawks 2-2 draw versus Acadia

(ST. JOHN'S, N.L) - Jane Pope's goal in the 88th minute earned the Sea-Hawks a 2-2 tie versus Acadia in AUS women's soccer on Sunday at King George Vth Park. Pope's goal, her fifth of the season, was set up on a nice pass from Jessie Noseworthy.  

Katie Ross opened the scoring in the 17th minute to give the Axewomen a 1-0 first half lead that they would hold until halftime. The goal was Ross' fourth of the season.

Memorial's Jessie Noseworthy tied the score early in the second half with her second goal of the year at the 46 minute mark.

Michelle Pryde gave Acadia the lead again with her second goal of the weekend in the 70th minute.
Pope's goal tied it late to salvage the point for the home side.

Players of the game were Jessie Noseworthy for the Sea-Hawks and Alana Fairfax for the Axeowomen.

The Sea-Hawks will head to Charlottetown for a weekend series against the Panthers on October 5th and 6th. UPEI are undefeated with a 3-0-3 record in AUS play.
