Tigers defeat X-Women 3-0, push winning streak to three

The Tigers came out strong with a number of shots on StFX keeper Nicole MacDonald, who made three saves in the loss.
Reigning Subway AUS Female Athlete of the Week Kristy McGregor-Bales put the Tigers up 1-0 after burying a header in the 23rd minute. The Tigers continued to dominate play and didn't allow a shot by their opponents in the first half.
Coming out of the halftime break, the X-Women seemed to be rejuvenated and nearly found the back of the net, but Tigers keeper Shannon Junor made a key save on a StFX breakaway opportunity.
Elise Bilodeau, named the Subway Player of the Game, added an insurance marker in the 76th minute to make it 2-0 for the Tigers.
"We played well, I'm very proud of all of us. It was great to great to get our first win on home turf. It was nice to see different people contributing to the attack," said Tigers striker Bianca Jakisa, who leads the AUS with three goals in five games played.
Joanna Blodgett added a third goal for the Tigers in the 85th minute, who are now on a three-game winning streak.
The X-Women will look to rebound when they take on the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday, September 21 at 1:00pm in Antigonish.
The Tigers attempt to make it four wins in a row when they travel to Raymond Field in Wolfville to take on the Acadia Axewomen on September 21 at 1:00pm.
