(HALIFAX, N.S.) Ticket packages for the 2025 AUS Basketball Championships, presented by Bell and G-Series, are set to go on sale Monday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. AST. This year's championship weekend will take place Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 2 at the Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax.
The three-day event consists of five doubleheader sessions with each session featuring one women's game and one men's game. The full schedule for this year's event is below.
"The excitement is already starting to build around this year's championship weekend," said AUS president and CEO Phil Currie. "We have a remarkably loyal fan base that looks forward to returning to this event each year. And now we're also seeing steady growth and increased community support year over year to the point where last year we set an all-time attendance record with over 25,000 fans through the building. This event just keeps getting better and better and we can't wait to bring it back again."
The men's championship was played at Scotiabank Centre for the first time in 1979—the year the facility opened—and has been hosted there more than 30 times since. The women's championship began running concurrently with the men's in 2015 as a pilot project and was announced as a permanent yearly fixture in 2018.
On the women's side of the draw, the two-time defending champion Saint Mary's Huskies will look to make it three in a row after defeating UNB 64-49 in last year's championship game.
Heading into the holiday break this season, the Huskies are currently undefeated and in first place in the AUS standings with a 9-0 record. The Cape Breton CAPERS are in second place with a 7-2 record, looking poised to return to Scotiabank Centre after missing the playoffs last season.
The current AUS women's basketball standings are available here.
On the men's side, the Dalhousie Tigers will be battling it out in the second half of the season for a chance to defend their 2024 title. The Tigers downed the STFX X-Men in a thrilling 77-67 overtime victory in last year's championship final to capture their seventh conference title in nine seasons.
They head into the holiday break in a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference standings with a 3-6 record.
The STFX X-Men top the current conference standings with an 8-1 record. Last season's runners up, the X-Men captured the AUS title in 2023 and went on to settle for U SPORTS silver in a 109-104 double overtime finish against the perennial juggernaut Carleton Ravers.
The Memorial Sea-Hawks sit second in the current conference standings with a 7-3 record and have their sights set on winning their first banner since 2008.
