Vanden Elzen free throws seal win for Sea-Hawks
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) Marika Vanden Elzen’s free throws with two seconds left in the fourth quarter sealed a 61-59 victory for the Memorial Sea-Hawks over the Cape Breton Capers in AUS women’s basketball on Saturday night.

(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) Marika Vanden Elzen's free throws with two seconds left in the fourth quarter sealed a 61-59 victory for the Memorial Sea-Hawks over the Cape Breton Capers in AUS women's basketball on Saturday night.
Alison Keough tied the game with nine seconds remaining for the Capers. On the ensuing possession, Vanden Elzen was fouled on a shot attempt off an offensive rebound before making the decisive free throws.
Kelia Pond led Memorial with 19 points in the win on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor. Sandra Amoah added 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Sea-Hawks. Vanden Elzen was named the Subway Player of the Game for Memorial.
The Capers came back from a 14-point halftime deficit. There were led by Keough's 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The two teams faceoff against each other today at the Field House.
