Tigers claw their way to a 73-67 win over No. 9-ranked Axewomen

The 73-67 loss to the Tigers is Acadia's second loss of the season following their first loss to StFX before the Holiday Break.
Former Axewomen Keisha Brown grabbed Subway Player of the Game honours with a team-high 19 points, while senior Axewoman Lindsay Harris was named the Acadia Player of the Game for the second week in a row netting a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds.
The Axewomen trailed the Tigers 23-17 after one quarter but closed the gap to three on a second quarter-opening three-point shot sunk by Harris.
Dalhousie then went on a 10-0 run to give the Tigers a 35-23 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the third frame. Acadia pulled back to a 40-38 deficit at the half and managed to eventually grab a four-point second half lead on a layup by Harris.
With the Axewomen ahead 59-55 after three quarters, Dalhousie tied the game at 60 two minutes into the final period on a Tessa Stammberger layup.
A Lindsay Harris layup at 5:56 gave Acadia their last lead at 64-62 but the Tigers would pull out to a lead on Ainsley MacIntyre's three-pointer to hold onto the lead into the closing minutes.
The win extends Dalhousie's winning streak to three games heading into next weekend's two road games in Newfoundland against the 3-5 Memorial Sea-Hawks.
Acadia shot 28% from the floor while the Tigers posted a 52% field goal percentage.
Second year guard Rita Sibo sank 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while teammate Abbey Duinker added 16 points.
Dalhousie's Tessa Stammberger and Robbi Daley netted 13 points each and Ainsley MacIntyre added 11 points.
Acadia's top score Kristy Moore is still recovering from a sprained ankle as the Axewomen head to Cape Breton next weekend for back-to-back games in Sydney.
