Dalhousie Tigers capture women’s and men’s titles at 2026 Bell AUS Track and Field Championships
Strong relay performances and distance dominance power Dalhousie to championship sweep
(MONCTON, N.B.) The Dalhousie Tigers women's and men's track and field teams captured the AUS championship banners at the 2026 Bell Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Université de Moncton at CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud's Vance-Toner Stadium.
A total of 240 student-athletes from nine Atlantic universities competed over two exciting days, with several events decided by fractions of a second on the track and centimetres in the field.
Dalhousie's women claimed the team title with 127 points. The UNB REDS finished second with 86 points, followed closely by the Memorial Sea-Hawks with 85.
On the men's side, the Tigers secured gold with 142 points, ahead of the UNB REDS (127) and the Saint Mary's Huskies (60).
Track Events
UNB's Shaniece Smikle won the women's 60 metres in 7.70 seconds, while UPEI's Lillian MacVicar captured gold in the 300 metres in 39.93. Dalhousie's Cara MacDonald topped the podium in the 600 metres, finishing in 1:31.84.
St. Francis Xavier dominated the women's middle- and long-distance events. Caroline Ash won the 1000 metres in a USports qualifying time of 2:44.66, Caden Lee claimed gold in the 1500 metres in 4:22.51, and Eileen Benoit secured the 3000-metre title in 9:30.99.
Memorial's Sarah Pace won the women's 60-metre hurdles in 8.98 seconds.
In relay action, UNB won the women's 4x200-metre relay, while Dalhousie captured the 4x400-metre title in 3:56.49. St. Francis Xavier claimed gold in the 4x800-metre relay.
On the men's side, UNB's Tristan (Jackson) Banks won the 60 metres in 6.95 seconds. Dalhousie's Jacob White sprinted to gold in the 300 metres in 34.22.
Zach James of Dalhousie won the 1000 metres in 2:23.31, while UNB's Jared Howse delivered a standout distance double, winning the 1500 metres in 3:46.53 and the 3000 metres in 8:06.92.
Dalhousie claimed gold in both the men's 4x200-metre relay (1:28.11) and 4x400-metre relay (3:17.56), while UNB won the 4x800-metre relay in 7:30.14.
Field Events
UNB's Hannah Barnard cleared 1.70 metres to win the women's high jump. Memorial's Sarah Pace captured gold in the pole vault at 3.30 metres, while Dalhousie's Maja Husain won the long jump with a mark of 5.53 metres.
Haley Angus of UNB claimed the women's triple jump title with a mark of 11.94 metres. Moncton's Audrée LeBlanc won the shot put with a throw of 13.25 metres, and UNB's Ashley Morrow delivered a USports qualifying performance of 17.47 metres to win the weight throw.
Memorial's Emily Foley won the women's indoor pentathlon with 2,902 points.
In men's field competition, Memorial's William Walbourne won the high jump, while UNB's Oliver Arnfast claimed gold in both the pole vault (4.05m) and the 60-metre hurdles (8.56).
Dalhousie's Austin Conrad won the long jump with a leap of 6.67 metres. Saint Mary's Ciaran MacDonald captured gold in the triple jump with a mark of 13.32 metres.
Dalhousie's Rylan Murphy won the shot put with a throw of 16.18 metres, while UNB's Christopher Grant topped the podium in the weight throw at 16.05 metres.
Arnfast also won the men's heptathlon with 4,492 points.
