(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) - The UPEI Panthers battled to a hard fought 1-1 draw against the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday afternoon at the UPEI turf.
The Panthers started well and then faltered late in the first half, as the Tigers opened the scoring in the 36th minute.
Islander Sang Muk Choi got his foot on a ball at the top of the box to beat Panther keeper Brett MacDonald.
Coach Page made two changes immediately after the goal, bringing in striker Harminder Singh and midfielder Cullan Mullally and it paid dividends as Mullally sent Singh in on the left flank in the 41st minute. A chip over Tigers keeper TJ Leopold evened the score and that's the way the first half ended.
The second half saw chances by both teams, and late in the game UPEI thought they had the go-ahead goal, only to be called back by an offside call. It was a game that either team could have won by finishing that final chance.
UPEI center backs Adam Lowther and Subway player of the game Cole MacMillan of UPEI were workhorses throughout the entire game thwarting a number of good Tiger attacks.
"I thought everyone put in a good effort today. Everyone knows we need a win and we showed that," said MacMillan. "We just need to put together a full 90 minutes and put the ball in the back of their net. Our subs came in and gave us our boost that we needed."
