Trailing the V-Reds early in the game after Oliver Jones scored an unassisted goal 17 minutes into the match, the Axemen held off UNB in the late minutes of the first half.
Acadia keeper Eric McGarry, named the Subway Player of the Game, had four saves that kept the Axemen within striking distance to tie the game.
Out shot 8-2 by the V-Reds, the Axemen controlled the ball well enough in the second half to allow for Noseworthy-Smith's goal.
Head coach Findlay MacRae was not happy with the process but took the tie as a consolation for a poorly played first half. "Our first-half performance was a disgrace. The message at halftime was to play our game, keep the ball and take it to them. I also adjusted some positions. The guys did the rest. It was a great second half response but we need to expect to win every game and play well for 90 minutes".
The Axemen will head to Newfoundland this coming weekend to take on the 0-4-1 Memorial Sea-Hawks. Acadia sits fourth in the AUS standings, trailing Moncton and UNB by one point.
