Panthers top Aigles Bleus 3-1

(MONCTON, N.B.) - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus gave up two goals in a span of a minute and 32 seconds late in the third period to fall 3-1 to the  University of  Prince Edward Island Panthers (13-9-3) Friday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey in front of over 1,200 spectators.

The Aigles (16-9-0) travel to Fredericton tonight, Saturday, for a matchup with league-leading University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds (21-3-1) at the Aitken Centre.

Dana Fraser at 17:03 and Reginaldo Traccitto, at 18:35 on the power-play, were able to give the Panthers their win.

Travis McIsaac scored five minutes earlier to even the score at 1-1.

Steve Lebel (from Danny Chiasson and Eric Faille) offered the spectators a chance to rejoice by giving the Aigles a 1-0 lead at 1:02 of the third after 41 minutes of play without a goal.

Adrien Lemay faced 33 shots for the Aigles, including 15 in the third compared to 25 for Wayne Savage of the visitors.

"I have to give credit to the Panthers," said Moncton head coach Serge Bourgeois following the game. "We took too many penalties. We have to find a way to stay out of that box.  It was playoff hockey and UPEI played better than we did."

The Panthers take to the ice again tonight at 7 p.m. when they host the St. Thomas Tommies in Charlottetown.
