No. 6-ranked Axemen improve to 6-1 with 4-3 win over Huskies
(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The CIS No. 6-ranked Axemen hockey team extended their winning streak to five with a 4-3 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in Halifax.

After a scoreless first period, the Huskies scored first eight minutes into the second frame. Parker Deighan netted what would prove to be Saint Mary's only goal of the second period.
Acadia's Mike Cazzola tied the game at 12:30 in the second followed under a minute later by Scott Trask's first goal of the regular season to give Acadia a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
Three minutes into the final frame, the Huskies' Steven Beyers tied the game at one with his fifth goal of the season. Just over a minute later, the Axemen regained the lead when Brett Thompson scored his third goal of the season, ending a six-game scoring drought that began after the season opening game where Thompson scored two goals.
The Huskies tied the game for a second time when Jeff Marchand netted a goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game.
First-year forward Michael Clarke ended the scoring with the game-winner with over a minute remaining in regulation time. Clarke's goal gave the Axemen a 4-3 win and brings Acadia's record to 6-1. Their only loss of the season came at the hands of the UPEI Panthers in the second game of the season.
Both teams were unsuccessful on the powerplay with the Axemen landing 13 shots in six opportunities, while Saint Mary's was 0-4 with seven shots on net with the man advantage.
With the Huskies edging Acadia 28 to 27 shots on net, the Axemen's Evan Mosher was the winning goaltender with 25 saves while Curtis Black picked up the loss with 23 saves. Mosher sits second in goaltending stats with a 1.42 goals against average after six starts.
The Huskies and the Axemen will have the weekend off as the Tim Hortons Team Canada all-star game is being played Friday night at the Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton, N.B. The Axemen are back in action on Friday, Nov. 15, visiting the undefeated UNB Varsity Reds, while the Huskies hope to improve on their 2-5 record as they host the UPEI Panthers next Friday night.
