Lemay makes 49 saves to lead No. 6-ranked Aigles Bleus past Huskies

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - A 49-save performance by goaltender Adrien Lemay and a timely goal by defenceman Mathieu Bolduc with less than two minutes to play in overtime helped the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus grab a 3-2 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in AUS men's hockey action Friday night in Halifax.

Bolduc deflected a shot by Francis Rochon past Anthony Peters 8:05 into the extra session for the game-winner in front of 765 fans at the Halifax Forum.

Rochon opened the scoring at 11:12 of the first period but forward Shawn O'Donnell answered just  12 seconds later for Saint Mary's sliding the puck through the 5-hole of Lemay. 

O'Donnell would beat Lemay again at 14:17 of the opening period, but that would be the end of the Huskies' scoring as the Moncton goalie shut the door, making several key saves to allow his team to get back in the game.

Alex Emond tied the game with six minutes left in the second period and both teams traded chances in the third but both Lemay and Peters were strong in net.

The Huskies outs shot Moncton 5-2 in the extra period.

Lemay improved to 5-3 on the season while Peters made 22 saves in a losing effort to fall to 6-5.

Saint Mary's (6-4-1) now trails Moncton (7-3-1) by two points in the AUS standings.

The Aigles Bleus travel to Antigonish, N.S., tonight to face the X-Men while the Huskies will host the winless St. Thomas Tommies at the Forum. Both games are 7:00pm starts.
