Too obvious. Seems
easy for opposition to shut down offence. Some individual standouts
at times and the inside game can be effective, however, the lack of
perimeter scoring is a problem as Sea-Hawks have difficulty playing
catch up. |
| Backcourt |
|
Shows promise
with rookie point guard Davion Parnsalu running the show. Another
rookie guard, Daniel Foo, has been injured but could be effective
in the second half of the season. |
| Defence |
|
At times solid, but
there are periods of letdown that have cost the team a shot at a
victory down the stretch. |

Little help
offensively so far this season. |

| Other Comments: If there's one
team in need a rebound season, it's the Memorial Sea-Hawks. The
Sea-Hawks look good on paper and seem to have more potential than
over the last five years. But, so far that potential hasn't shown
up in on the scoresheet with W's. - John Browne, St. John's

| Coaches Comments: Although
I'm disappointed we have started 0-6, I'm pleased with how we've
been competing in each game and have had chances to make things
close down the stretch in 5 of the 6 games. So, although not
getting a win is disappointing, I'm encouraged by our effort and
competitiveness.
I'm also very pleased with our attitude and work ethic right
now.Our team chemistry is developing very well given the fact that
we are still a very young team.I'm very optimistic for the second
half, and for the future.
I've been most pleased with our defensive effort. We've had
stretches where we have played defense as good as any team in the
country. That's encouraging as we are still making mistakes, but
those will diminish as we get more experience, and guys get more
comfortable in our system.
The area we need to improve on is our offense. We are only
scoring 64 pts a game, and I think with the talent in the league,
it's a tall order to win games in the 60's. I believe our inside
game is very good, and our turnovers have been reasonable, but we
are just not hitting shots. We are moving the ball well and just
need a couple of guys to step up and contribute to our scoring. I'm
confident that will improve the second half, as we have guys with
the ability to shoot the ball.
I'm looking forward to the second half and feel we are knocking
on the door, just waiting to break through. Not sure how long it
will take, but from what I see from our team right now, I'm
expecting a very competitive second half, and hopefully we can put
ourselves in a position to get into playoffs. It's a process and
things don't happen overnight, but I'm confident good things will
happen for this group here at Memorial. - Peter Benoite, Head
