Tigers rally to take down Huskies in overtime
(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies 75-69 in overtime in AUS men’s basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Homburg Centre in Halifax.
(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 75-69 in overtime in AUS men's basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Homburg Centre in Halifax.
The Tigers (2-4) went on a 13-3 run in the last four minutes of the game to tie the Huskies (2-5) 64-64 at the end of regulation.
Dalhousie then outscored Saint Mary's 11-5 in the extra session for the win.
Freshman Hassan Abdullahi (Scarborough, Ont.) scored 23 points and connected on two critical baseline three-pointers down the stretch to lead the Tigers. Fellow rookie Devon Stedman (Ottawa, Ont.) registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Newcomer Jordan Lee (Baltimore, MD.) made a splash in his Homburg Centre debut with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals to lead the Huskies. Kevin Thomas (Malton, Ont.) grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Saint Mary's on the boards.
The Tigers will finish off the first term of conference play this Saturday when they host the UPEI Panthers at the Dalplex.
The Huskies will return to the hardwood on the weekend of December28th when they visit the Dalplex for the annual Rod Shoveller Memorial Tournament.
