(TORONTO, Ont.) - Canada Basketball announced Thursday the roster for the senior men's National Team camp from August 24th to 28th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ont., including Acadia's fourth year forward Owen Klassen.
One of only three current Canadian Interuniversity Sport athletes selected to the team camp this year, Klassen represented Canada last summer, capturing a silver medal at the FISU games in China followed by his participation on Team Canada at the 2012 Pan Am Games in Mexico last October.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Klassen was a CIS All-Canadian last season as well as the Atlantic University Sport conference Defensive Player of the Year. Klassen averaged 16.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game and led the league in blocked shots.
"Anytime you have the opportunity to be a part of Canada Basketball's national program, it is a tremendous honor," Acadia Coach Steve Baur said. "Owen has put in the work and earned this chance. He will continue to grow with the competition and coaching he will receive at this level."
Jay Triano was named as the team's Head Coach with Dave Smart, Greg Francis, and Kelvin Sampson as the Assistant Coaches.
Team Canada also features six current NBA athletes.
