Huskies defeat Mounties 46-7 to improve to 2-0
SACKVILLE, N.B. — The Saint Mary’s Huskies wasted no time asserting themselves Saturday, exploding for 22 first-quarter points on the way to a commanding 46-7 win over the Mount Allison Mounties in AUS football action at Alumni Field.

Quarterback Justin Shibley threw for 385 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing major as the Huskies improved to 2-0.
His 71-yard strike to Cherokee Robinson opened the scoring, and Robinson finished with five receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown. Joshua Jack also caught a 24-yard touchdown, while Reece Wyke, Nicholas Park and Malik Williams each added rushing scores.
Kicker Adam Johnston chipped in 10 points, converting all six extra points, adding a 38-yard field goal and a rouge. Saint Mary's rolled up 536 yards of total offence, including 423 through the air, and built a 29-0 halftime lead.
Mount Allison (0-2) avoided a shutout midway through the third quarter when quarterback Spencer Joudry found Rykert Balfe on a seven-yard touchdown pass. Joudry went 13-for-22 for 137 yards but was intercepted three times.
The Huskies' defence forced four turnovers, highlighted by interceptions from Ryan Butler and Kallon Edwards, while holding the Mounties to just 183 passing yards and one trip to the end zone.
Attendance was announced at 1,350.
The Huskies will host the Bishop's Gaiters (1-0) in week 3 action while the Mounties will travel to Antigonish to face the StFX X-Men (1-0).
