SACKVILLE, N.B. — Quarterback Justin Quirion threw for 367 yards and a school record five touchdowns as the Bishop’s Gaiters rolled past the Mount Allison Mounties 43-7 in Atlantic University Sport football action on Saturday.

Quirion, who completed 25-of-37 passes, connected with five different receivers in the win. Joey Julien led the way with seven receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown, while Oliver Burnett scored twice through the air. Mathieu Bellavance and Ismai Sansoucy also reached the end zone.
The Gaiters (1-0) piled up 544 yards of offence, with O'Shae Ho-Sang rushing for 99 yards on 15 carries.
Bishop's took control early, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before Mount Allison briefly cut the deficit on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Joudry to Nolan Cheeseman in the second quarter.
Bishop's responded immediately and never looked back, adding three touchdowns in the third quarter, including a 32-yard interception return by defensive back Philippe Theroux. The Gaiters also tacked on a single late in the fourth to cap the scoring.
Mount Allison (0-1) mustered 284 yards of total offence. Joudry finished 15-of-32 for 192 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Cheeseman was his top target with five catches for 75 yards. Running back Sam Bawa added 39 yards on the ground for the Mounties.
The win gave Bishop's a strong start to the AUS season, while Mount Allison will look to regroup heading into Week 2.
The Gaiters have a bye this week while the Mounties will host the Saint Mary's Huskie (1-0).
