Ho-Sang, Royer and McKeen named AUS Football Players of the Week
Two Gaiters and a Mountie earn honours after securing Week 1 victories

Name: O’Shae Ho-Sang

Bishop’s Gaiters running back O’Shae Ho-Sang is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 25, 2024.
Ho-Sang jumpstarted a Gaiters offense that outscored the St. Mary’s Huskies 16-4 in the second half on route to an 18-11 victory to open the 2024 AUS campaign. He carried the ball 17 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns, the second of which coming with 33 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to break an 11-11 deadlock. He also caught two passes for 33 yards.
Bishop’s returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 31 as they host the STFX X-Men on Coulter Field. Kickoff of the 2023 Loney Bowl rematch is set for 2 p.m.

Bishop’s Gaiters linebacker Gabriel Royer is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 25, 2024.
The 2022 AUS Defensive Player of the Year did not miss a beat in his return after an injury shortened his 2023 campaign. Royer led a Gaiters defense that was outstanding in Saturday’s 18-11 victory over the St. Mary’s Huskies in Halifax, recording seven tackles and three sacks.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Beynon McKeen
University: Mount Allison University
Position: Kicker
Hometown: Britannia Beach, BC
Year of eligibility: First
Academic program: Business Administration
Height and weight: 5’11, 170 lbs
Mount Allison University kicker Beynon McKeen is the Atlantic University Sport Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 25, 2024.
McKeen played an integral role in the Mounties season-opening 15-14 victory over Acadia University on Saturday, as he was responsible for eight points (2 field goals, 1 extra-point, 1 rouge).
Both of his field goals came in the opening half – the first a 33-yard kick late in the opening quarter, and the second a 25-yard kick with just six seconds on the clock before halftime.
His extra-point in the fourth quarter tied the game at 14-14 before he sealed the win for Mount Allison with a rouge with just 45 seconds remaining in the game.
McKeen also added two kickoffs that totalled 134 yards.
Mount Allison returns to the field on Sept. 7 when they host Saint Mary’s University.
