Huskies Freshman Derek Pisani (Newmarket, Ont.) and third-year veteran Dave Sabourin (Ottawa, Ont.) each had twelve carries for 82 yards to spark a Huskies running game that accumulated 343 yards on the ground. Timberlea native Jordan Wallace caught three passes for 56 yards and a TD to lead Saint Mary's in receiving.
Four Huskies quarterbacks saw action in the contest and completed 11 passes on 26 attempts amassing 146 yards and two touchdown passes. Scott Borden (first year, Halifax, N.S.) passed for 82 yards and ran for 30 to lead the way at the pivot.
David Culligan (Timberlea, N.S.) led the Huskies on defence with six tackles and Kayin Marchand-Wright (Montreal, Que.) had a 29-yard interception return with five seconds left in the first half to give Saint Mary's all the separation they would need. Saint Mary's led the Mounties 22-5 at the half.
Nick Lauder (5th year, Hubley, N.S.) paced Mount Allison with 71 yards on nine carries including a game-high 41-yard burst in the first half. Carson Park and Mark Sampson combined for 11 tackles for the Mounties.
Mount Allison begins regular season play next weekend in Antigonish versus the St. Francis Xavier X-Men. The Huskies host AUS defending champion Acadia at Huskies Stadium on Friday night.
