(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks captured the 2026 Atlantic University Sport women’s curling title Sunday afternoon with a 6-2 win over the host UNB REDS in the final at the Bell AUS Curling Championships, at Fredericton’s Capital Winter Club.
After a blank in the first end, Memorial’s Cailey Locke stole two in the second for an early 2-0 lead.
UNB’s Jenna Campbell answered right back, taking a single in the third.
Locke then scored one in the fourth and stole another pair in the fifth before UNB got one back in the sixth.
Locke countered with a single of her own in the seventh before running the REDS out of rocks in the eighth.
“This is great, we worked hard,” said Locke. “We came out strong and were able to keep going and they fought hard and they made us work for it, every shot.”
The Sea-Hawks went 2-and-0 Sunday, beating Saint Mary’s 8-6 in the morning semi-final.
UNB earned their spot in the final by finishing atop the round robin standings with a 5-1 record.
“I think that we just weren’t as sharp as we have been,” said REDS’ third Rebecca Watson. “They played a really great game, and we just weren’t making the shots as precisely as we would’ve liked.”
Both Memorial and UNB now prepare to represent the conference at the U SPORTS Curling Championships, February 17-21, at the Caledonian Curling Club in Regina.
