(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks successfully defended their Atlantic University Sport men’s curling title with a 5-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers in the final at the Bell AUS Curling Championships, at Fredericton’s Capital Winter Club.
Memorial’s Simon Perry put up singles in the second, third, and fifth ends, and stole two in the seventh.
Dal’s Owen McPherson ran out of rocks in eighth end, stifling any thoughts of a comeback.
“We’ve put in a lot of hard work,” said Perry. “We didn’t come out playing our best. We’ve been lights out all week and we had a tricky little start, but we played through it and stuck with it, and eventually we got our break and then the pressure was off.”
Both teams will now prepare to represent the conference at the U SPORTS Curling Championships, February 17-21, at the Caledonian Curling Club in Regina.
