Sea-Hawks take straight set win over Varsity Reds
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks opened a weekend series with a straight set victory over the UNB Varsity Reds in AUS women’s volleyball action at the Field House on Saturday.
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks opened a weekend series with a straight set victory over the UNB Varsity Reds in AUS women's volleyball action at the Field House on Saturday.
Set scores in the win were 25-16, 25-14 and 25-18.
Senior middle Angela Peddle led the Sea-Hawks with 11 kills while getting in on five blocks (two solo and three block assists).
Second-year Jill Snow added 10 kills on her way to earning Subway Player of the Game honours for Memorial.
Setter Kirsten Sorensen had 28 assists and six service aces in the win. Senior left side Sam March had a match-high 11 digs to go along with five kills.
Vanja Mitrovic, a third-year right side, led UNB with nine kills in the loss. Rookie left side Jackie Sebetovsky was the player of the game for the Varsity Reds.
The win improved Memorial's record to 4-9 while UNB fell to 4-7 with the loss.
