In the opening weekend of men's soccer action, the AUS defending champion Cape Breton Capers opened the season with back-to-back wins, defeating the UNB Reds and UPEI Panthers. The Capers played to a 2-1 victory over the Reds in their home-opener on Friday evening, followed by a 1-0 shutout win over the Panthers Sunday afternoon.
The Saint Mary's Huskies also opened their season with a pair of wins, defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks on both Saturday and Sunday in St. John's. The Huskies earned a tight 4-3 victory Saturday, then went on to blank the Sea-Hawks 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Acadia Axemen also opened their season with a win, playing to a 3-0 shutout win over the Mount Allison Mounties Friday. Their scheduled game against the Dalhousie Tigers was postponed on Sunday afternoon due to Hurricane Dorian.
Despite missing their game on Sunday, the Tigers also opened the season with a win as they visited the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus on Friday, walking away with a 3-2 victory.
The StFX X-Men hosted the UPEI Panthers Friday, blanking them 2-0 at StFX Stadium. They then went on to host the UNB Reds Sunday afternoon, where they fell 4-1.
The Aigles Bleus visited the Mounties Sunday, where they earned a 2-0 shutout win.
