Atlantic University Sport
Student-Athlete Advisory Council

Atlantic University Sport was the first conference in the nation to assemble a Student-Athlete Advisory Council with the purpose of reviewing the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) and the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) activities and proposed legislation and offer student-athletes input and feedback.

Two representatives from each of the Atlantic University Sport member schools are selected to serve on the committee which meets throughout the year to discuss issues of concern to the student-athlete.

AUS Student-Athlete Advisory Council Mission Statement:

The Atlantic University Sport Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), which represents diverse views and backgrounds of student-athletes, was established to serve as a medium of communication through which student-athletes, conference administrators and coaches discuss and take action on issues relating to rules of governance, student-athlete welfare and community service.

AUS SAAC Guiding Principles

The SAAC will be guided by the following principles: ethics, integrity, fairness, and a respect for diversity, which shall include attention to gender, race, ethnicity and sport.

AUS SAAC Initiatives and Community Involvement

The Council strives to contribute to the communities which support our institutions and our student-athletes. Council members share ideas on community initiatives and fundraising events and one of the goals of the Council is to organize annual events in an effort to raise funds for local charities. Such events are organized through our member school’s Athletic Councils and also through the collective AUS SAAC Council as a whole.
